Cantilever is a web design and development studio with a unique philosophy we call “Digital Hospitality.”

We are looking for an amazing full-stack web dev to join our motley crew. We are scattered on five continents but share a communal bond that is special. If you are looking for a remote career, not just a job, this is the place for you!

We are looking for a mid-level generalist who is happy to work on a wide range of technologies and challenges. You should embody these qualities:

  5. Dependability: We are upfront and open when assigning work. When you agree to take on work within a certain timeline we expect you to deliver that work on time or notify us ASAP that there are complications.

Your Mission

To help Cantilever clients fulfill their missions by building digital technology that meets the needs of their users.

Key Competencies

  • Frontend Development: You are a master of good markup, clean styling, and DRY components in HTML/CSS/JS. You know how to work within common frameworks like React.js without causing code bloat.
  • Backend Development: You understand how to build full new features within MVC frameworks and common CMSes, combining backend logic with frontend code.
  • Debugging and Optimization: You have a proven ability to diagnose and address bugs and performance bottlenecks.
  • Design Fidelity: You are skilled at delivering visual fidelity to design mocks without resorting to hacky code.
  • Web Accessibility: You have a strong understanding and advocacy for web accessibility principles and their significance.
  • Build Process Expert: You understand how to create seamless and robust build processes that stay sharp over time.

Outcomes

  • Successfully deliver code that solves client problems
  • Consistently deliver complete work within self-agreed due dates
  • Consistently deliver high-quality work within self-provided estimates
  • Avoid critical bugs in production

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain accessible and performant front-end website architecture and back-end applications.
  • Continually improve and optimize client websites through the creation of new components, pages and features.
  • Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables within budget constraints.
  • Work collaboratively in a remote team setting to bring designs to life.
  • Ensure website accessibility and SEO optimizations are met.
  • Uphold code integrity and ensure high-quality documentation.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve bugs and performance issues.

Compensation

This is a mid-level role for which we plan to pay a salary between $67k and $100k per year depending on skills and experience. That salary figure is quoted in USD and refers to a US-based employee. We hire worldwide and pay equally regardless of location, by providing different comp structures for different countries depending on taxation.
